Come this Friday, December 9, 2005 the Scouting Commission in Utah will
award To Elma Farnsworth (widow of Philo T. Farnsworth) the Eagle Scout
Award for Philo T. Farnsworth. Elma (we call her Pem, a name her father
gave her when she was very young) who is now 97 and will turn 98 on
the 25thof February 2006, will receive the award for her husband
Philo, at the place
of her residents, the Avalon Care Center in Bountiful, Utah.

It has taken many years for Philo to receive his Eagle Scout Award. Philo
earned his Eagle Award before he was 18 years of age, but it was it was
never presented to him. While on a radio broadcast back in 2002, just
before the 75th commemoration of the first image seen on T.V., back in 1927,
Pem was talking about the fact that Philo had earned his Eagle Sout Award,
but had never received it. My son, Daniel Lewis Farnsworth, remembered
what she said, and this year he had the opportunity to talk to a member of
the Scouting Commission here in Utah. Daniel told them that they needed to
present the award to Aunt Pem before she died. Within a few days they
checked or verified that he did in fact earn his Eagle Award and the Award
ceremony was set up and will happen on Dec. 9th 2005 at 10:00 AM in the
Avalon Care Center at 523 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Ronald O.
